A visit to an artist’s studio is one of the best ways to find out about new work before it hits the gallery or winds up ensconced in the museum. This weekend’s Inglewood Open Studios features dozens of artists at several locations, from those who have been developing their style over decades to those fresh out of art school and self-taught artists.
The program kicks off with an opening reception at Residency gallery Friday night, followed by two afternoons of open studios. Participants can hop on a shuttle three different tours, or they can follow their own path with the help of this map.
Nestled into a pocket of Southwest Los Angeles, the city of Inglewood sits in the shadow of LAX, and a short drive from both Culver City and Leimert Park. The city is poised for a major transformation over the next few years, with two major sports stadiums planned, two new Metro stations, and a new Frank Gehry-designed building for the LA Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles. Hopefully these changes will also mean a boon for the city’s art scene, anchored by galleries like Residency and Mandujano Cell, and the several artist’s studios open to the public this weekend.
When: Saturday, November 10 & Sunday, November 11, 12–5pm daily
Where: various locations around Inglewood
